Acne
Types of Scarring:
Atrophic scars: Rolling, ice pick, and boxcar scars, among others. These small indentations are the result of subcutaneous skin healing. Commonly seen on the forehead and cheeks, they are typically brought on by cystic acne or chickenpox.
Keloid or hypertrophic scars: These are the reverse of atrophic scars described above; they are raised lumps on the skin brought on by scar tissue and are more frequently found on the back, chest, and jawline.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation: Discoloured areas brought on by severe acne healing.
Acne is a common but distressing skin condition that occurs when hair follicles get blocked with sebum from the sebaceous glands and dead skin cells causing inflammation and the typical whitehead or blackhead appearance of acne spots
Acne can leave scars that are difficult to treat with topical therapies, and these scars can have a significant impact on self-esteem.
Scars or pigmentation resulting from past episodes of acne are referred to as acne scarring.
